BASIC PERSONALITY: You know how there are people that just stick out in a crowd? Their natural aura just pulls eyes towards them, and their personality pulls you closer? Yeah, Max is the exact opposite. Blending into the crowd is easily one of his greatest strengths, and he likes his ability to do so. There's nothing he detests more than attention- he doesn't like the pressure of all eyes on him, and he certainly doesn't think that anything he has to say or anything he could do would be of any interest to anyone. Unfortunately, he's always been of this mind, a quiet kid his entire life. That doesn't mean he doesn't open up a little. He's not trying to hide anything from anyone, he just prefers to not throw everything into the open. If asked a question, he'll answer plainly, saving the asker any details and getting right to the point. He's an honest one- he'll always admit to that.
He was always a very proud one too. Throughout Hogwarts and into his early days working with dragons, Max was always particularly happy with his work and where he'd gotten himself. Again, he didn't brag, but if someone told him what he'd done wasn't good enough, he had a short fuse. He beats himself up over his work all the time, expecting 100% from everyone he works with and 150% from himself. This dedication to his studies and anything he attempts can be exhausting for those along for the ride. Usually, he isn't very good at convincing them that everything it worth it to them like the work is to him, but he can silently motivate with his own self-motivation and dedication.
Max never leaves work undone that he can do himself, and is always the first to volunteer if there is a task that no one else wants to complete. He has a sense of duty and responsibility for that sort of thing, and he thinks that if he doesn't step up to do the job or task, someone else will do it begrudgingly with half a heart in it. He can't stop himself. When doing work or trying to reach a goal, he is ruthless, and this has since alienated him from friends and family unintentionally. Already being rather anti-social, disliking big get togethers and any sort of attention, this doesn't help much to his personal relationships.
Max has been rather unsuccessful with females, usually turning them off out of his seeming disinterest or generally staying away. He likes girls as much as the next guy, but he's not the sort of person who wants to screw around. If a girl doesn't stick out to him as someone who is well-rounded, interesting, and worth his time, he won't really waste his time on courting her. Girls who come on to him are usually disappointed, he can be rather coarse. When he does come upon a girl he fancies, he's usually too shy to approach her, or stumbles over his words and ideas around her.

BIOGRAPHY: There have been some weird family situations in history, and the Finnigans definitely classify as different than the norm. Jackson and Maxwell Finnigan were born to Seamus and Lavender Finnigan much after their siblings were grown, the youngest almost finished with Hogwarts. Whether or not they were expected was debatable, but they were loved very much by their parents and their siblings. They even had a young playmate who was in the family, their eldest brother's daughter- Sarah. Many people thought that the three were triplets, not unexpected twins from a woman nearing the end of her ability to have children and an unexpected daughter from a one night stand of the son of that woman. Despite the complicated family tree, they were happy.
Unfortunately, not for long. Tragedy struck the Finnigans in a harrowing way at the end of one summer, just after the twins and Sarah had each turned one. Fiendfyre took over the Leaky Cauldron and almost half of Diagon Alley, injuring many, but killing two people dear to the Finnigans' hearts: Lavender Finnigan and Emily Gables. Jackson, Max, and Sarah all lost their mothers in one evening, Seamus lost his wife, and Sam lost his mother and adoring girlfriend (who surely would have been his wife in years to come). It was an awful time recovering, and the lost hit the Finnigan family with full force. Despite not knowing his mother or Emily, Max misses the idea of her and often asked his older family members to tell him about her. He thinks of her fondly and often.
In all the darkness that surrounded their losses, a shining light appeared in the form of Tinsley O'Malley. She originally came to assist Sam in caring for the three children, but she quickly became the primary caretaker, moving in and making them her sole responsibility. Despite always calling her by her name, Max and the other children viewed her as a mother, and they obeyed her, respected her, and loved her as their own. Despite being completely disgusted with one another at first, Tinsley and Sam slowly fell for each other. They married, and had three children of their own, all girls. It was interesting for Max to be an uncle at such a young age, especially to Sarah, who is his age. It always bugged him whenever any of them called him Uncle, but the younger girls he allowed to do so. He always had a soft spot for them.
Hogwarts time was exciting, and he was excited that he, Jackson, and Sarah got to all go together. They were all sorted into Gryffindor and stayed close throughout their school years. The others were always much better at making friends than he was, so he usually tagged along with them. He tried out for the Quidditch team, and made it because he was unbelievably agile on a broom. Unfortunately, the only position he was good for was Keeper, because he was rather horrible with hand-eye coordination. Mostly, he used his body as a human target to bring success to the Gryffindor team. Once NEWT time came around, he found it nice that he, Jackson, and Sarah all went into different fields. Despite being close with them, he liked the space. He decided to focus on Care of Magical Creatures, his favorite subject. He'd always excellent at that and Defense Against the Dark Arts.
He had no idea what he wanted to do, but his head of house suggested that he apply for a program in Romania. It was very new, hardly developed, but it was based around the taming and study of dragons. Max was infatuated, and applied, putting his whole heart into his applications and interviews. He was selected for the intern position and left for Romania only a week after graduation. After a year of interning, he was asked to stay on at the facility as a full-time researcher. His dedication in the lab and ruthlessness in the field earned him the respect of his coworkers and he was soon loved by everyone. He did miss his family, and he did write once in awhile, but being so wrapped up in his new life with the dragons, he didn't have much time to respond to theirs.
After five years at the facility, Max was given the opportunity to go back to London and begin intensive research on new dragon eggs throughout their incubation phase, hatching, and early development. Naturally, Max accepted and moved to London where his lab was stationed after being abroad for years.
